Original Acrylics
Acrylics afford me the ability to add texture and layer upon layer of glazes to my paintings. I love to paint with all kinds of tools, most of all my hands. With acrylic paints and mediums I get to play with knives, trowels, sticks, and of course, my fingers.
The rich color and texture in my work adds a touch of earth magic to all that I create.
My images reflect the essence of all creation, medicine pieces to invoke the Spirits and heal the soul.

I think viewers are most interested in how I create the depth of color and texture in my work. They usually want to touch it and some say it looks good enough to eat. It is the layering of glazes and textures, the rubbing, sanding, troweling, brushing, hand painting, spraying, etc. that results in a sensually rich surface drawing you into a piece.
I love to get my hands into my work. It’s a bit like digging in the earth as a kid. I just had to have my hands in something. It is essential for me to physically feel the materials and manipulate them as closely as I can. That’s one of the reasons I use acrylics now. The quick drying aspect of the medium allows me to glaze layer upon layer of color in a relatively immediate way as well as use my hands to apply and burnish as I want to. The colors are intense and rich and the various painting mediums combine well to build my surfaces into textural experiences. Each finish responds differently to color offering unexpected surprises in the process.
